About me...

From working for the Welsh Arts Council after leaving school I worked for a few years in the construction industry designing timber frame houses. Following construction I went into management for a design company before deciding to return to education achieving an honours degree in Fine Art in Context. My final university project involved sending sculpted newspaper ‘penguins’ to various parts of the world (including New Zealand and the North Pole) and documenting their experiences on a purposely designed website called Paper Penguins which was a relative success here and around the world.

Following university I travelled to Australia and New Zealand meeting up with my first ‘paper penguin’ Dennis, located at a penguin colony on the South Island. I also designed a window display for a tourist information and gift shop and gave talks about my project – including press and TV interviews.

I use a mixture of acrylics and inks as well as oil pastels applied to a textured surface to create my work. Works can take weeks sometimes months to complete. Only when I am relatively satisfied with the result and there is a risk of 'overworking' a piece, do I stop
